The VS151: Finally! A camera designed for conducting image-processing applications outside!
Developing image-processing applications to work outside presents a set of challenges not found in traditional factory machine vision. The distance to the object varies, the temperature ranges from hot sun to icy cold, the lighting changes from darkness at night to bright sunshine during the day, and the environment can include rain and dust. In addition, the camera should be in an enclosure that is small in size and low in cost.
Lighting conditions
To address the problems created by the various lighting conditions found outside, Valde Systems uses an automotive grade CMOS sensor with a very wide dynamic range of over 100db. In addition, the screw-on lens cover accepts standard photographic filters for polarization, infrared, ultraviolet, or other colors to improve contrast and algorithm performance.
Environmental conditions
The VS151 is completely sealed through the use of O-rings and gaskets throughout. The lens cover keeps out rain and dust while protecting the lens. The connector is an automotive grade connector, and there is an optical window between the lens and the sensor in the enclosure. To further extend the useful environmental range, an optional version adds the ability to pressurize the enclosure interior with 5-7 psi of dry nitrogen gas along with a desiccant to prevent internal moisture condensation. This optional version also includes a Kapton heater and Peltier cooler to provide an active heating and cooling method.
Customization
For regular production orders, Valde Systems can customize the VS151 for you with your own part number, label and custom color. The VS151 has the following features:
