Software
The vision processors from Valde Systems can be thought of as "platforms" for your image processing applications. There are no "standard" software packages for uses such as autonomous vehicle navigation, vision guided robotics or other uses. Customers typically have existing source code that they wish to get running on our processors to realize the performance improvement, along with the size, weight and power savings.
Our Vision Processors come with our standard Board Support Package (BSP) software, along with some basic examples such as edge detectors designed to help customers understand the software development process.
The most popular development environment to develop applications for our products is Code Composer Studio (CCS) from Texas Instruments. This Integrated Development Environment (IDE) allows developers to watch variables and debug in real time, along with a complier specifically for the DSP. This development package is fully supported by Texas Instruments and Valde Systems. Our processors come with all the configuration files needed to build applications in CCS.
CCS interfaces directly to our vision processors via a hardware emulation JTAG cable. This cable plugs directly into our hardware and is the main method of interaction. Both the hardware JTAG cable and the CCS software are available directly from Texas Instruments, or through Valde Systems. Colleges and Universities are eligible for discounts of up to 50% off regular prices. These are of course one time purchases, and can be used for multiple projects.
Beyond the basic BSP software, there is a growing community of library functions developed by Valde Systems and our customers to run on our processors. These functions are available to all to help develop a repository of functions that may be useful to others. Valde Systems encourages contributing to this repository, and offers discounts to customers who do so.
